National Honor Society is the highest academic honor you can receive in high school. National Honor Society is not only based on scholarship, but also leadership, service and character. Elementary Quiz Bowlers had their last competition at Holdredge's Prairie Museum today. The kids went 2-2 and enjoyed exploring the many areas of the museum between matches. Then, of course, we had to stop for ice cream to celebrate another great quiz bowl season.
Students participated at FKC Music Contest today in Amherst. Choir students receiving a Superior ratings were: Delaney Collins with her vocal solo, duet & trio. Allie Lauby with her vocal solo, duet & trio. Kaylin Hafner with her vocal solo & trio. Band students receiving Superior ratings were: Connor Edwards- tenor sax solo. Bree Corey - clarinet solo, Julian Seberger- xylophone solo, Kara a Brockman- tuba solo & Aniston Peterson- alto sax solo. What a great day for the music kids!

Elwood Public School is looking for a full-time para professional. This position would include helping small groups, helping individual students and other duties. This position is paid on an hourly basis. The hourly rate will be based on previous experience and training. This position will be a 35-40 hour a week position. Paraprofessionals are paid for Christmas Break and all snow days. Application forms may be picked up at the school office, 502 First Ave, Elwood, Nebraska. That time a year again, Scholastic Book Fair is almost here. It will run between March 21- March 28. We will be open every morning stating at 7:30 and run until 7:55. Will also be open after school until 4:30. We are looking forward to seeing everyone stop in and check out the book fair. The Elwood FFA did a fantastic job presenting at the Nebraska Rural Community Schools Association (NRCSA) spring conference yesterday. They discussed their FFA Community engagement projects and their public forum project.
March Teacher In-Service (Wednesday, March 13, 2024): Following was the agenda: Principal Jones shared items; Family Heritage checked-in; Faculty updated professional goals; Score Spring SIP writing assessment; Disaggregate data (data committees); Discussed External Team visit (Admin and Steering Committee). These students all competed at the Western Regional Science Fair in Curtis yesterday! There were about 70 students competing from several schools around the area, and we had 6 out of 16 students overall that were chosen to compete for the finals. Everyone did an amazing job!!
