February 2nd is known as Groundhog Day. Today the preschool class wanted to do a little experiment to see if Truman, the class guinea pig, would agree with the findings of Punxsutawney Phil. Berlyn Schutz was the kick off guest speaker for the Pirates Providing Hope campaign. She talked to the school and community about her life long relationship with running and the impact it has had in her life. Her experiences competing in cross country and track throughout high school taught her a lot about perseverance. Now, while competing in her first year of her collegiate career, Berlyn continues to learn from running. She is developing new and important skills, such as managing her time and health, as well as learning the importance and joy of working together to achieve a common goal. Thank you, Berlyn, for taking the time out of your busy schedule to be with us and start this meaningful fundraiser.
