Our Friend of the Week is Jaxson! He was nominated for always being kind to a friend and seeking that friend out when he's lonely. He was also nominated for his kind words and for reminding other students that "you have to believe in yourself!" Awesome job, Jaxson!

This week after 21 days in the incubator, we welcomed 7 new friends (baby chicks) into 4th grade. We had the best time learning about the different parts of the chicken egg, watching them hatch, and sharing all we have learned with Pre-K through sixth grade. Thank you Gosper County Extension for supplying us with everything we needed for this project! šŸ£

Today these students celebrated their hard work in the Final Battle of the Books at ESU 11 in Holdredge. Two authors zoomed in to tell about their writing journey and answer studentsā€™ questions. A craft was made and Kahoot! was played after eating pizza in a new B.O.B. T-shirt.

Today we held a junior high panel where these junior high students visited the 6th grade classroom to answer their questions and help them prepare for junior high next year. They did such a nice job and gave terrific advice! Way to be awesome leaders!

We have received the results from the State FCCLA Conference held earlier this week! Congratulations to Brooke Brockman who received a Silver in Public Policy Advocate! I am so proud of all of your hard work this year! Brooke was able to attend the State Conference virtually this year. On Monday morning she watched the Opening Session and listened to an amazing keynote speaker! Monday afternoon she was able to join some breakout sessions. Even though we were unable to be in Lincoln this year, Brooke made the best of it!

The April In-service was led by Jim Kleine, Sandy Dean, and Kate Hatch. We took a moment to review Elwood Public Schoolā€™s current and proposed Mission Statements. The newly proposed statement was accepted, with the new revisions kept in place. It was announced that all SIP goals for year 1 have been met. We will start our 2021-22 school year by setting our school's Writing goals. Pre and post Writing tests will be used to measure all students' growth in this area. The teachers concluded the in-service by meeting with their committees to discuss what steps were still needed for them to complete the tasks for the year.
