2022-2023 Pre School-Kindergarten registration is now open. There will be registration @ the school on Monday March 28th @ 6:00 p.m. in the Elementary Lobby before the concert. PreK need to be 4yrs old by Aug 1st. If they turn 5 before Aug 1st., they do not qualifiy for PreK but can registrer for Kindergarten. Please call the school if you have any questions.

Our Friend of the Week is Ben! He was nominated for being helpful in and out of the classroom. He is also a great helper when teachers need him! Keep up the great work, Ben!


That time of year again. Spring is here and so is the Book Fair. The book fair will run all this week and next come check it out. Attached is a flyer one should have been sent home as well. Check out the new ewallet you can set up with your child at the book fair!!!

Kara Brockman competed at State MathCounts today in Lincoln. A total of 68 students participated, with less than 5 students from Class D schools. Congratulations Kara!


So proud of these 8th grade boys who taught the preschoolers about speed. velocity, gravity, forces, mass distribution, potential energy, and kinetic energy using the preschool's marble drop to explain these difficult topics. These boys definitely conveyed their love of science.

Teachers’ In-service 3/16/22
Miss Deaver opened the in-service with information on an upcoming survey that a specific demographic student population will be taking part in very soon.
Mrs. Dean and Mr. Seberger briefly discussed our writing goals and deadlines to complete the requirements for this school year, and then had the teachers break into two groups. The Elementary and English/LA educators worked together with Mrs. Hatch on the ELA Curriculum Matrix, while the remainder of the educators compiled Writing Data for 1st-12th grade students.

Our Friend of the Week is Sabastian! He was nominated for going out of his way to help a friend on the playground! We love seeing students doing what is right even when they think no one is watching! Great job, Sabastian!


Ten student traveled to NCTA today to represent Elwood at the Western Regional Science Fair. Connor Edwards placed in the top 6 projects and qualified for the State Science Fair on April 21st in Lincoln.



Elwood Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, March 10th due to forecasted weather conditions. There will be no activity practices on Thursday. Track practice scheduled for Friday has also been cancelled.

Our Friend of the Week is Harper! She was nominated for being patient and helpful when her friends need it! Great job, Harper!


On March 2nd, Kara Brockman, Noah Rand, and Karter Tilson represented Elwood at the Central Nebraska Science and Engineering Fair held at UNK. Students took home a total of 10 awards, including 2 projects in the top 5. Students will compete again on March 14th at NCTA.



There will be no school on Friday March 11th due to winter break. Also, There will be a late start on Wednesday March 16th. Buses will run appx 2 hours late. PK will dismiss at 1:30. There will be no breakfast served on that day.

State qualifiers: Lauren Hickey, 1st in Persuasive and 3rd in Entertainment; Alayna Moore, 2nd in Informative; Shannon Kennicutt, 3rd in Extemporaneous. Other medalists: Brooke Brockman, 4th in Informative; Kassandra Salisbury, 5th in Poetry; Marissa McClung and Emily Winter, 5th in Duet; Emily Winter, 6th in Entertainment; Xandria Pike, 6th in Poetry; Delaney Collins, 6th in Serious Prose.
