Thank you to the 4H extension ladies and volunteers for putting this on!

Elwood Elementary celebrated Read Across America month with a 101 Dalmation theme. Students were encouraged to read a predetermined number of minutes to earn a dalmation puppy to display. Students were challenged to earn at least three puppies to attend a movie in Arapahoe at the end of the month. Some students gave "Book Talks" on their favorite books. (Go to Elwood's facebook or instagram page to view these adorable book reviews.)
Each Wednesday in March, kindergarten through sixth graders had fun dress-up days and gathered altogether for activities. We sang the Reading Rainbow theme song, read books, wrote letters to Jaxsboro, TX (their elementary school was hit by a tornado at the beginning of March), and enjoyed some snacks. Each week a "Top Dog" was awarded to a student in each class who had read the most minutes, earning them the most puppies. "Top Dogs" received a $5 gift card to The Red Barn.
