If you are interested in cheerleading for the 2025-2026 school year, there will be a meeting this Thursday, March 27th, at 6:00pm in the Elwood School commons area. If you are interested in cheerleading but are unable to attend the meeting, please email shelby.borden@elwoodpirates.org before Thursday. There will be a parent meeting following the student interest meeting in the following weeks. Thank you!

The Elwood junior and senior band students participated in RPAC Band Clinic held in Alma
yesterday. The guest clinician was Rick Mitchell from Kearney, Nebraska.


RPAC Instrumental Concert was held at Alma this evening. Outstanding job by all bands and the group as a whole was amazing. Great job Elwood Pirates Band.

Speech: Congrats to Kara Brockman on making the NSSA State Speech Meet in three events! She will compete next Friday in Kearney in Entertainment Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking, and Persuasive Speaking.

lt was a great to be a Pirate speaker at District Speech! Kara Brockman took 1st place in all 3 of her events (Persuasive, Entertainment, and Extemporaneous)! She will represent Elwood at State Speech in all 3 events. Kassandra Salisbury placed 4th in Program of Oral Interpretation and 5th in Informative. Christdolyn Hagan and Adrianna Seberger placed 6th in Duet Acting. With just 6 entries, Elwood placed 4th overall! Go Pirates!

District Speech Update: All events made finals! Stay tuned for placings. Awards will be sometime around 5:30 or 6:00.

8th grade Exploratory Careers class finished 3rd Quarter making some Awesome Pillows! They put all their career skills to use in great teamwork during sewing station rotation, leadership in assisting others, problem solving, planning skills, and time management!

Foods classes have been busy learning about Quickbreads! Their scones lab yesterday was a success with a wide variety of treats using new skills knowledge of baked goods. Students will also be critiquing their scones with articles as food critics exploring that career path.




The District Speech Meet is in Wallace tomorrow (Wed. 3/19) in Wallace. The awards ceremony will be streamed on Wallace's Striv channel. Here's the link: https://striv.tv/channel/wallace/. Elwood Public School will be closed on Wednesday, March 19th, due to the forecasted blizzard like conditions.
A group of 17 5th-8th graders traveled to North Platte to compete in the Western Nebraska Regional Science Fair on March 12. Congratulations to Benjamin Morton who was recognized for his his Environmental Project, Scientific Research, and State Qualifier status. Ben will now move on to complete at the Nebraska State Science Fair! Way to go Ben!


The Treasure Island chapter of the National Honor Society inducted five new members on Wednesday (3/12). Congratulations to Luqas Bjorklund, Noelle Rand, Judah Niemeier, Kara Brockman, and Karter Tilson for achieving this honor!
