Footings being dug. If Mother Nature will cooperate, footings will be poured on Thursday.

We are aware of issues with Schoology the last couple of day, pages not loading or problems logging in at times. As you might imagine there is such a high level of usage right now these problems will crop up. If you continue to have problems logging on please contact Jim Kleine and he'll look into it. You may also want to contact the teachers directly for files and information related to their class. Thanks for your understanding.

Here is a copy of the guidance we received as it relates to our closure through April 30th.

We will continue to offer pick-up lunches for the foreseeable future. If you are already on the list you do not need to call us. Pickup is 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Dear Students, Parents and Patrons,
COVID-19 has changed how business is done at Elwood Public Schools. Our building has been closed since March 19th. Unfortunately the current recommendation from the Commissioner of Education is that schools not have students in the building through April 30, 2020. The Commissioner has also indicated that it is "highly unlikely" that we will return to school this school year. This recommendation is also highly encouraged by the Governor and the Public Health Officials. Based on these recommendations, Elwood Public School will be closing its building through April 30th. I believe that Kearney Public School said it the best. "Our buildings are closed, but the school year is not over".
Knowing that learning must continue to progress, it will look different and be outside of our normal brick and mortar setting. All teachers at Elwood Schools are currently providing enrichment activities to students. These enrichment activities are a review of skills that students have already learned this year. Beginning in the very near future, teachers will be implementing a continuity of learning plan. More details about this plan will be provided very soon. At this time, grades 7-12 have mobile devices available and will receive communication from teachers regarding assignments and due dates. We are currently working on a schedule to check out mobile devices to elementary students. Families will be notified when devices can be picked up for check out at the south entry door. Elementary parents and students will receive information regarding assignments and due dates in the near future. If your student does not have access to the internet, please let us know by calling (308) 785-2491.
This situation is developing rapidly, and conditions are changing daily and at times hourly. Please be assured that school administrators and board members are closely monitoring official state guidelines from the Nebraska Department of Education, the Governor's Office, and the State Health Officials. We will continue to re-evaluate our building closure as this situation continues to evolve.
School activities through April are cancelled. Recommendations right now do not allow us to have gatherings of more than 10 people in a room at a time. We will continue to monitor this situation and look forward to a time when we can return to hosting schooland activities as we normally would do.
Respectfully,
Daren L. Hatch

Elwood Public School will be making the move from Enrichment to Education for all grades except 1st and Kindergarten starting March 30th . What that means is all assignments from that point forward will be expected to be completed and will be graded. Elementary parents please contact your child’s teacher via email, or the normal class communication for further instructions on each class. High school students be sure to check your ipads for upcoming assignments. Please remember that this is new to everyone and we will do our best to prepare your students for the next level in their educational careers.
Elementary parents: ipads are ready to be picked up for grades 1 through 6 at the south door of the school. They may be picked up from 8:30 to 3:00 on Thursday or Friday. If you need to pick them up earlier please contact the school and schedule a time. When you show up to the school we will bring your child’s items to your vehicle. Parents need to show up to do this as you are required to sign the iPad handbook form. You can read the iPad handbook by going to the school web page at elwoodpirates.org, click on MENU, click on DOCUMENTS, and then scroll down to IPad Agreements.
