Senior Spotlight Delaney Collins

Delaney Collins, Elwood senior, took time to share her plans for the future and reflect on her experiences at Elwood School.

During her years at Elwood High School, Collins has participated in FFA, National Honor Society, FCCLA, Dance Team, Stampede, Yearbook Book Club, Volleyball, Basketball, Speech Team, Student Council, One Act, teaching the Pre-K the National Anthem, and coordinating the Blood Drive. She mentioned Mr. Stephens’ art class during her freshman year as her favorite class because she had a lot of fun in his class.

While thinking about her senior year, Collins shared what she is looking forward to the most: having fun and sharing memories with her classmates. One of those memories from years past ranked as her favorite.

“My favorite memory was in 7th grade when Drew Knoerzer went up for a layup and I got completely mowed over,” she explained.

As she considered what she will miss about Elwood School, she said she will “miss the teachers and people that I grew up with that are close with me and also the experiences that I have had throughout high school.”

While reflecting on school, Collins offered some advice for other students.

“Work hard and be the best that you can be. Try to have fun while maintaining good grades and don’t focus on what others say about you. Take care of yourself and the people that are close to you,” she advised.

Following graduation, Collins plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Kearney and major in psychology.
