Read Across America

In honor of the birthday of Theodor Geisel (better known to all of us as Dr. Seuss) schools across the country participate in Read Across America, a celebration not only of Dr. Seuss but celebrate the joy of reading. Monday we kicked off the festivities with Deputy Craig Ward reading Tacky the Penguin to the student body. After that the high school students broke into small groups with the elementary and read a book together and during this time were surprised with a teacher flash mob dancing to "My Future's so Bright I've Got to Wear Shades" which fits the theme of the day.

Each day has a different theme for the elementary.

Monday - Your Future's so Bright When you Read. (sunglasses provided for everyone!!)

Tuesday - Wear Something you can Read

Wednesday - Wacky Wednesday (hair, socks, etc…)

Thursday - Theme: If I Ran a Zoo - (animal prints)

Friday - Theme: Snuggle Up with a Good Book (p.j.'s, comfy clothes)

Each day will also have special activities including Husker athletes Skyping in to read a book to the students. It should be a fun, fun week.
